Theremin Try Out

This afternoon we try to do some experimentation with theremin at Common Room Secret Studio. It was Evan (Storn), a friend of Elang E.B.Y., from the Alphawaves/Polyester Embassy who made this modified theremin. We try to mix it with different sound effect. Hendi plays the theremin while Gustaff plays synth in the background.

Jaeger Boy Transistor is an experimental electronic rock music project that started in early 2004. This project was initiated by Ni’ang, a multimedia experimentalist who works with both audio and visual machinery, and involves Gustaff H. Iskandar (media artist & researcher), Egga (graphic designer, media artist and DJ), Dandy aka Achong (graphic designer and front man of the Avant-rock band Teenage Death Star) & Hendra (electronic music producer and the founding member of electro pop band Rock N Roll Mafia). Their music is influenced by punk, new wave, electro, but basically rock. Best listened in a smoke filled club filled with drunk scantily-clad pseudo models. You can download their music here!

Hendi, Peyi and Andi during the recording session at Common Room Secret Studio.

After several try outs and discussion with some of our friends in Common Room, finally we’re having our first music recording experience! This time we decided to start with music jamming and record the whole session with an open source software computing platform. We use Audacity to record the material, which works very well with openSUSE 10.2., an operating system that use Linux computing platform. In this particular session, Projekt Heterologia presents Gustaff H. Iskandar (programing/sampling/synth), Niang/Jagger Boy Transistor (programing/sampling/vox), Hendy Hertiasa aka Party Maker Inc. (vox/effect) & Ferly Noviadri aka Peyi (bass). Recording session is being facilitated by Andi Sugandi from Bandung Linux Club, local open source software community that dedicates their activities in developing open source software user in Bandung. You can download the result at this link and read the complete report in this blog.
